Biography. Cai Wenji was born shortly before in Yu Prefecture (圉縣), Chenliu Commandery (陳留), in what is now Qi County, Kaifeng, Henan. Cai Wenji was married at the age of fifteen to a Wei Zhongdao (衛仲道) in , who died shortly after without any offspring.
